Score of Take me back to the dear old Belfry song
For some time the M.C.G. were without a hut on Mendip. They did live for a time in an old horse box which was used by sheep, one of which Pat was rumoured to have become quite attached too, however, for the most part they stayed in other clubs huts until they completed construction of their own. This song was written during this period of homelessness!

Take me back to that dear old Belfry,
Take me back to that Shepton shack,
Take me back to that Wessex construction,
We do hope you've a welcome on the mat, for us,
We do hope you've a welcome on the mat.

It's a year since we've been homeless,
I expect you probably know,
I expect you've also noticed,
We're Mendips finest scrounging so and so's, thats us,
We're Mendips finest scrounging so and so's.

We've had coffee in the Belfry,
And in the Shepton too,
We've had something in the Wessex,
We sometimes wonder what they're trying to do, to us,
We sometimes wonder what they're trying to do.

Don't despair that we'll never leave you,
Don't despair that we're here to stay,
'Cos we've got a nasty feeling,
That some day they'll be carting us away, for good,
That some day they'll be carting us away.
